Check Your Email Authentication

in WHICH BAG FITS YOU BEST?

Much of your sender reputation comes from the email authentication methods (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) you have in place to establish that you are a verified sender. You can check the status of your email authentications from the message headers of your sent emails. For example, in Gmail, you can see it under the Show Original option in the drop-down list to show message headers below: By analyzing the message header, you can see which email authentication protocols are enabled (usually the format is <protocol name>=pass) and which domains are configured. Here are some notes on the three main authentication methods: SPF : For the domain used for the envelope sender , which is the one to which bounces are sent and can be located in the message header under "Return Path". It is essential that you configure your SPF records.

Typically, the return path address is provided by MailUp, as the system automatically handles your bounces for you, and therefore the SPF record is already set up and you don't have to do anything. However, in some cases customers want to customize the sender of the envelope: in this case, make sure that the SPF record has been configured for the domain associated with this address. DKIM : In the message header, look for the DKIM signature that starts with Also in this case, if the domain used belongs to your company, it is useful to use it with your new ESP. All emails sent with E-Commerce Photo Editing Service MailUp are already automatically signed with DKIM. Upon request, we can configure an optional, customer-specific DKIM signature. DMARC: Used primarily as an anti-phishing tool, DMARC has been covered extensively in some previous blog posts. It is not commonly adopted by low volume shippers. If it's enabled for your sending domain, however, you should verify that it's set up correctly. Incorrect configuration could result in your emails not being delivered. #3: Plan ahead As a guideline, plan your move to a new ESP at least a month in advance.

The transition should allow for required steps and account configurations that can take several days. As mentioned under #1, if you are migrating to new dedicated IPs, it will take some time to warm them up and will therefore require you to gradually move your email campaigns from the current to the new ESP. This can mean extra time needed to transition, and you need to be prepared for that. #4: Export your unsubscribe list Having your unsubscribe list from your old ESP is very important. When upgrading to your new ESP, you will want to import this list so that your mailing lists are up to date. If you're switching to MailUp, you can easily import a list of 'as unsubscribed' recipients, and also keep unsubscribes in sync between systems during the transition period using the MailUp API. See our help guide for more information and use cases.
